Categories: the letter game for groups

A letter appears, the clock starts. City with B? Animal with B? Job with B? Everyone fills in their list at the same time, and whoever is done first can call stop. Then the group checks the answers together, and only original ones score big.

How to play

  1. Open a room and share the link. Pick classic categories (City, Country, River, Name, Animal, Job), a new mix every round, or write your own.
  2. Every round shows a random letter. Fill in one answer per category that starts with it before the time runs out.
  3. Done with everything? Call stop. The others then have 10 more seconds.
  4. Everyone sees all answers and can veto nonsense. The answers are scored, and after the last round the podium shows who knows the most words.

Questions and answers

Is this like Scattergories?

Yes, it is the same classic letter game, also called Name, Place, Animal, Thing or Stadt, Land, Fluss. Here it runs in the browser, free, with automatic scoring.

Who decides if an answer counts?

Answers must start with the letter. Everything else is up to the group: tap to veto, and an answer is struck out when most of the other players agree.

Can we use our own categories?

Yes. Choose "Your own" in the lobby and write 3 to 10 categories, one per line.
